near Stuttgart. — Bishop Taylor is an American attached to the military and stationed as a missionary in Sweden. The pomp of the states was not present at this confirmation but all was very nice. I had the two cutest in the confirmation class and they had the two best looking sponsors!! Bishop Taylor was so down to earth and we all received communion from him during the mass. He was at the reception (pot luck supper) afterwards. A very nice evening

Tuesday, May 26; Pat had his tooth filled at 8:30 AM – we like the dentist much. He is so nice and speaks excellent English. This helps!! Nothing too different about today — just the usual running around. Should be getting ready for our weekend trip but I’m too tired to get going. Susan went to a barbecue with Bill — I made two banana cream pies — and Cynthia stayed all night with her friend Sue. Jack was overworking on his car radio again. I visited Hannah Bergman in afternoon and Stephen is in the hospital for tests. He has had fever since the 10th. He and Philip just got over Scarlatina.

Wednesday, May 27; Oh, me, I am still so tired this morning and so much to do. Guess we won’t attempt Paris with no reservations. We may go back to Holland. I am just plain confused. Today is ironing — shopping — taxiing (children out at noon for day — Holly for good!!). Sue and I are both having our hair done. Decided not to leave tomorrow thank heavens!! Will leave Friday and children will go to school tomorrow. It is just a German holiday (the American equivalent of Memorial Day). Our children are out Friday for our Memorial Day.

Children ate at AYA and saw cartoons — Jimmy, Sue and I went to Bill’s promotion party. Very nice!! It was in the Emperor room. Afterwards Sue and Bill went to a Battalion party — Jimmy and I went to dinner. Then home to bed!! (Promotion parties consist of free drinks for all).

Thursday, May 28; Children to school — Holiday for IBM. We had lunch at the officers’ club. Rest of the day we got ready for our trip. Bill had dinner (if you could call it that) — with us and helped pack car.
