Saturday, April 18; All children to catechism and then shopping — still quite chore — especially Metzgerei. Tim made his first confession. Older children went to Spring Festival. We stayed home.

First Communicants (13 girls, 11 boys) participated in offertory procession before consecration. Msgr. Gave such a nice sermon to youngsters. Afterwards there was a breakfast for all at Topper Club on the base. We drove to Stuttgart to Wilhelma gardens and zoo. Excellent aquarium and gardens but zoo was disappointing. Took excursion boat for hour ride down the Nectar River. Very nice. Home for dinner and bed!!
Monday, April 20; Usual day saw our slides at Lundgrens in the evening. Pretty good.
Tuesday, April 21; Cleaned house in a.m. Officers’club for lunch with Mary Onweller and Jimmy shopped a little in the afternoon and boys joined Cub Scouts. Took hamburgers home for dinner from AYA. Susan and I took Pat — Kevin — Cynthia — two catechism at 7 PM and met Jim, Jack M. And Fraulein Rohm for dinner at officers’club. They were too late so all met later in Sindelfingen. Had a ball. Ordered omelet surprise (6 marks for two). Enough for all five of us and it turned out to be like our Baked Alaska.
Wednesday, April 22; To fellows to work — then children to school to buy lunch tickets. Sue and I and Holly had lunch at officers’ club. Lt. Myles invited Susan to the ball next week. Got my hair bleached and shocked everyone at German lessons. We have a new teacher — Herr Krause. Very nice but not as much fun as Fraulein Rohm. After lessons Jack — Sue — and Lindgren’s went with us to base officers’club. Had a couple of drinks and a couple of dances. Home for toast and peanut butter and then to bed!!
