We all had our breakfast in our rooms. It was not too good — food is different and of course cold. Mass was even different. Most women do not wear your hats. We hit a mass with an Italian sermon. One man serves mass (regular dress) and one goes to the side by a microphone and give us the responses in Latin with the German accent. The looks on all our faces as we first knelt on the hard wood kneelers were priceless. A priest came to a forward microphone and led the …

singing. None of their hymns were familiar to us at all. There were very few communions and a man gave out a holy card to each communicant. He was the man who was serving mass.

It was snowing when we awakened but not sticking on the ground. In afternoon Jack went with us and we took streetcar #10 to the end of the line to the park. The snow was lovely and didn’t take children (kinder) long to get soaken wet. On the trip back, we got into trouble and wasn’t even the children’s fault. Jimmy evidently (we never found out) bumped against a lady and she was complaining loud and furious to the conductor. Even the man across the aisle got in on it but seem to be telling her to forget it!! The conductor kept laughing and no one else seemed to be on her side so guess she was just the German crab!! All we could get from her tirade was Americaner. We are definitely foreigners and it is evident to everyone. We look different!!

We fed children in room for dinner and then went to dining room with Jack, Janine, Vick, Sue, Kevin, and Cynthia. It took us 2 1/2 hours for dinner again. The service is excellent but a bit disappointed in the food. We all turned in early.
