Sunday-Easter
March 29,1964
The OsterHase (Easter bunny) found us and then we went to mass — A very modern church — disappointing to me. The only outstanding things where the two adorable altar boys. I wore my bright blue frilly hat with gloves and shoes to match a midst all their dark plain felts. It was rainy and cold!! After mass we had a delicious breakfast and decided we would just sight see from car and pack up — it was just too cold for us…

We were about 50 minutes at checkpoint again — got on the wrong road and sent back by Russian soldiers — got on road and ended back up at checkpoint — managed to get on the right road and went straight to Helmstedt where we cleared the Russian area for good. We stayed all night at Helmstedt. Found a room with five bunk beds — very very nice and clean and just 25 Marks!! We had dinner at Rathskeller — the owner spoke English. A charming town. In bed after 11:00 PM.
